Time to upgrade: WordPress 2.0.3 is out
WordPress 2.0.3 has just been released. Matt posts that this is “the latest in the stable 2.0 series” and that it “is a bug fix and security release <that is> recommended for all users”.
“For the curious, this release includes:
- Small performance enhancements
- Movable Type / Typepad importer fix
- Enclosure (podcasting) fix
- The aforementioned security enhancements (nonces)
Upgrading is fairly simple, just overwrite your old files with the latest from the download. When you go to your admin it will give you a link to update your database.”
Here’s the link to download the newest WordPress.
I’ll report more once I’ve upgraded myself

For strictly personal reasons, the timing of this annoys me.
I just finished converting a 350 post, 6000 comment archive from flat HTML files to the mtimport format so I could get all of it into my WordPress. I worked through the quirks and finished my import. The very next day WP released this upgrade with a new and improved MT importer.
Damn.
Maybe I missed it before, but it seems this new version handles editing/revising comments differently. Suddenly I’m seeing this odd “Are you sure you want to do this?” screen and the revised comment gets escaped. Huh? Still, upgrading was easy and painless.
Thanks for the heads up! Let me know how it works. I’ve been burned by upgrades at times, and want to wait for a bit.
@Joefish — isn’t that always the case?? I hate when those kind of timing issues happen, too!
@Scott — what you’re seeing is the “are you sure” bug. turns out this release wasn’t so stable after all. there is a plugin that is supposed to help fix the bug until 2.0.4 is released (which is reported to be coming soon) — see my next post for the link to it
@Paul – wise move as it turned out this upgrade would have burned you, as well. I also decided to wait a bit before upgrading and turns out that should probably be the standard mode of operating when it comes to wordpress upgrades. When its clear the kinks are worked out, then go ahead and do the upgrade.
