Need someone to create a custom template or plugin for your blog? Need help with SEO? Check out Rent A Coder!
I just found the coolest resource! It’s called Rent A Coder, and you can post any project that you need help with, whether it be as simple as installing WordPress / MovableType / etc for you on your server, or as complex as asking someone to write a custom blogging platform for you. Want a custom template for TypePad or a special WordPress theme and don’t have the time or skills to do it yourself? Just Rent A Coder to do it for you. You can even find people to help you with Search Engine Optimization, people to write content for you, etc.
Once you post the specifics of the project you need help with, coders will then bid on your ‘job’ and you can decide who you want to hire based on their bid, the feedback they received from other users on other projects they’ve completed, etc.

The money is not released to the coder, till they complete the work according to your original specification. There are no service charges or finders fees for buyers.

Just a note on the difference between guru.com and the other two mentioned sites. Guru.com has strict parameters that you must adhere to as a developer, your skills are matched with the clients requirements, it also has a geographical comparison, so that you are shown projects in your area, in case it is a “work on site” project.
The only problem I see with scriptlance and getafreelancer, are the types of programmers that are there. Since I paid for my education, and have invested countless hours in learning past that point, I refuse to work for five dollars an hour. If a project is posted with a budget of $300, you will see that the middle easterners are bidding so low, its not even worth booting up a machine to attempt the work. Of course we all want to spend as little as possible, and thus the more experienced american programmers are being shot out of the saddle “so to speak” as our econoical structure isnt as depressed as that of somebody from India. At any rate, that was not what my post was about. It is about the fact that there are multiple sites where you can list your project, and have competent programmers and developers bid on your project and take care of the work for you.

RentaCoder is a great example of how the internet has globalized commerce. I am a registered coder but have to compete against top-notch people in developing countries who will work for a lot less (their currency goes a lot farther).
