Blogging tips and tricks, theme and plugin info, blogging software reviews, and more
Emily, I’m assuming that you already know about Imitrex. It’s not a preventative but my Dad, who has had terrible migraines his whole life, uses it with success after a migraine has already started.
Also: I’m a new visitor here but this looks like a blog that people would like to subscribe to via email. But I don’t see a subscription link prominently displayed. Do you disagree?
Wow, I’m glad to hear your having some success. The migraine is a very interesting problem with a myriad of solutions. Given you particular skills, it is a very blogworthy topic.
On a separate note, how did you settle on Semiologic? Can you give some insight on your choice and how you like it so far?
Cheers!
@Canadian Headhunter –
Unfortunately, I had a bad reaction to Imitrex (vomiting, heart racing, etc..) but thanks for the tip. I’m glad it helps your dad, though! Right now I’m having the most luck with Migranal, which, unfortunately, is ridiculously expensive. I’ve also found some relief with Darvocet in the generic form…
And yes, an ability to subscribe by email is coming shortly
@TourPro:
I haven’t settled on Semiologic just yet – it used to be one of my favorite themes because of it’s clean look, search engine friendliness and built-in integration with a number of plugins, but the latest iteration (the one necessary with WP 2.0.x) makes it really difficult to customize the theme without delving deep into the PHP AND no longer includes built-in integration for as many plugins as the original did.
Right now I’m just so busy catching up for all the lost time while I had a month full of migraines and trying to migrate the blog over from it’s previous TypePad address (and close comments and trackbacks on that blog, and write to people who link to me and ask them to update the links, etc, etc) that my head is spinning
When things settle down a bit I’m likely going to be switching things up a bit with the themes, either having a highly customized version of an existing theme or else I might finally try my hand at creating my own theme from scratch (it’s about time!)
Thanks for the comment and wish me luck with the migraines and the blog transition
Imitrex works fast, not a pain killer… so there are no groggy side effects. Used for several years without any problems.
