Fighting TrackBack Spam – WordPress beats TypePad by a mile

I hope you have noticed that TypePad now has trackback and comment moderation as well as registration if desired.
Well, I do think the comparison between WP and TypePad is an unfair one. The real comparison should be between WP and MT. And MT plus the SpamLookup plugin is pretty well locked down against comment and trackback spam.

Note that a couple of researchers at Rice University have released a Trackback spam blocker plugin for WordPress that uses a different approach: their Trackback Validator Plugin checks to make sure that the sites which send you Trackback pings really do link to you, a test that most Trackback spammers fail.

Just got done trying and learning about the Rice University plugin, and it works smoothly on WP 2.0+
